Model Highlights

The 2020 Hyundai Ioniq is available in three different powertrain models, the Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and Electric. The Hybrid model is available in three different trim levels; Blue, SEL and Limited. The Plug-in Hybrid and Electric are available in two trim levels; base and Limited. The Hybrid model achieves its impressive fuel economy through an advanced drivetrain that pairs a 43-horsepower electric motor to a 1.6L 4-cylinder conventional gasoline engine. Combined, they make 139 horsepower, which is then sent to the front wheels through a 6-speed Ecoshift transmission. While most other hybrids use a continuously variable transmission for maximum efficiency, Hyundai hits their mileage target and delivers a more conventional driving feel by employing a sports-car style dual-clutch "automated" manual. The Hybrid Blue trim comes standard with 15-inch wheels, active grille shutters, dual-zone temperature control, 7-inch display audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rearview camera, keyless entry and automatic projector headlights. The Hybrid midlevel SEL adds several safety and convenience features. SEL versions get a Blind Spot Detection system with a rear cross-traffic alert, Smart Cruise Control with a stop and go function, lane follow assist, 10-way power driver's seat, heated front seats, wireless phone charging, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED tail lights, heated side mirrors with turn signals built in, a leather wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, 8-inch LCD instrument cluster and some additional chrome work around the windows and interior door handles. The top-of-the-line Hybrid Limited gets upgraded 17-inch alloy wheels, a power tilt and slide sunroof, leather seats, HID headlights, a 10.25-inch screen housing a navigation system, ambient lighting, a Harman Kardon sound system, an electronic auto-dimming rearview mirror with a built-in garage door opener and LED interior lighting. The Plug-in Hybrid also utilizes the same powertrain as the Hybrid model, which again uses a 1.6L gasoline engine, but supplements it with a more powerful electric motor. Range on the plug-in hybrid will be around 29 miles, after which the gasoline engine kicks in to recharge the batteries. Lastly, in select markets, the Ioniq Electric is available. It is powered by a 134-horsepower electric motor exclusively, and features a maximum range of about 170 miles, which should be more than enough for most commutes. The Plug-in Hybrid and Electric base trim comes well-equipped with 16-inch wheels, active grille shutters, heated side mirrors, automatic projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, dual-zone temperature control, heated front seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, 8-inch display audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rearview camera and keyless entry. Stepping up to the Plug-in Hybrid Limited or Electric Limited adds Blind Spot Detection system with a rear cross-traffic alert, LED headlights, 10-way power driver's seat, leather seating surfaces, driver seat memory and a 8-inch LCD instrument cluster. The Plug-in Hybrid has an available Ultimate Package for the Limited trim which adds a power sunroof, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, rear parking sensors, HID headlights, LED interior lighting, wireless device charging, navigation system, 8-inch color touchscreen display and an Infinity premium audio system. Many safety features come standard on the Ioniq including electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, traction control, brake assist, and a suite of airbags. The higher trim levels also include active safety features such as automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, smart cruise control and headlights with dynamic bending light.
